The Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce (PKCC) is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization serving businesses, residents, property owners, and visitors in the Possum Kingdom Lake area. The Chamber acts as a central source of community information and promotes local businesses and the PK Lake area.
Our mission is to encourage and support visitors to Possum Kingdom Lake while serving the ongoing needs of our residents. We also work to support and promote businesses serving the PK community.
The Chamber serves the Possum Kingdom Lake community and provides outreach across Palo Pinto, Young, and Stephens counties.
No. Many lake facilities and public-use areas are managed by the Brazos River Authority (BRA). The Chamber provides information and connects visitors and residents with the appropriate resources.
The Chamber currently describes its membership as more than 350 members offering products and services across more than 300 business categories.
The Chamber office is located at 362 N. FM 2353, Possum Kingdom Lake, Graford, TX 76449.
The Chamber’s posted office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with time out for lunch.

Yes. The Chamber provides information about lodging, recreation, dining, local businesses, events, and other visitor resources.
The Board’s posted meeting schedule is the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the PK Chamber of Commerce building.
The current Board of Directors includes Sue Cathey, President; Justin Burney, 1st Vice President and Past President; Kim Nussbaum, 2nd Vice President; Magyn Whitaker, Secretary/Treasurer; Dave Smith; Ronnie Ranft; Heather Lindley; and Steve Himes.
The Chamber currently lists Staci Williams as Executive Director and Shayla Vanlandingham as Administrative Assistant.
The Chamber offers membership options for businesses as well as individuals. Current membership levels are Corporate, Business, and Individual.
Chamber membership helps support economic activity in the PK area while providing member businesses with promotion, referrals, directory exposure, Chamber representation, and other member services.
No. Individual Membership is available for people who want to support and participate in the Chamber without a business listing.
You may join by completing the Chamber’s membership form or by signing up online through the Chamber website.
PKCC currently offers three levels: Corporate Membership, Business Membership, and Individual Membership.
Corporate Membership is currently $275 annually.
Business Membership is currently $175 annually.
Individual Membership is currently $50 annually.
Yes. Businesses outside the immediate Possum Kingdom Lake area may become members as long as they are located within Palo Pinto, Young, or Stephens County.
Corporate members receive a premium bold listing in up to five business categories on the Chamber website and annual Visitor and Membership Directory, along with Chamber representation, referrals, office services, brochure placement, meeting-facility discounts, a membership plaque, and the ability to submit business information for Chamber newsletter emails.
Business members receive a standard listing in up to two business categories on the Chamber website and annual directory, as well as Chamber representation, referrals, office services, brochure placement, meeting-facility discounts, a membership plaque, and newsletter-submission opportunities.
Individual members receive complimentary use of certain Chamber office services, computer and high-speed internet access, discounted meeting-facility rental rates, and Chamber activity mailings and emails.
Yes. Corporate and Business membership benefits state that members’ business contact information is supplied in response to applicable inquiries.
Yes. Corporate and Business members may place brochures and business cards in the Chamber office.
Yes. Complimentary notary service is listed as a membership benefit.
Yes. Discounted rates for use of Chamber building meeting facilities are listed as a membership benefit.
Membership dues may qualify as an ordinary business expense because of the Chamber’s 501(c)(6) status, but they are not a charitable contribution for federal income-tax purposes. Members should consult their tax professional regarding their individual circumstances.
If you selected automatic renewal, your membership will renew one year after your original sign-up date. Your membership will not renew automatically if you opted out of automatic renewal or paid by check.
Yes. You can pay your membership dues online by visiting the Chamber’s Membership Sign-Up page.
The Chamber accepts credit cards, debit cards, and checks. Checks should be made payable to the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce (PKCC) and may be mailed to the Chamber.
Yes. Automatic renewal is available for Chamber memberships.
Members can use the Member Login & Edit/Profile area of the Chamber website to access their account. Specific instructions for which fields members may edit should be confirmed by Chamber staff.
The website provides a password-reset feature. Enter the email address associated with your account to receive a verification code and create a new password.
Yes. Members can add photos and a logo to their business listing.
Visitors can use the online Business Directory and other topic-specific pages throughout the Chamber website to locate businesses and services.
The Chamber has a Member Deals page that displays specials or deals posted by Chamber members to their profiles.
Yes. The Chamber serves the broader PK Lake area, and its Business Directory is intended to connect users with member businesses serving the area.
Possum Kingdom Lake has approximately 19,800 surface acres of water and approximately 310 miles of shoreline.

Possum Kingdom Lake is in North Texas, approximately 90 miles northwest of Fort Worth. The lake area stretches across portions of Palo Pinto, Young, and Stephens counties.
The east side is generally accessed from the Mineral Wells direction, while the west side is generally accessed from Graham. Because of the shape and size of the lake, visitors should plan their route before choosing lodging or activities.
PK is known for its clear water, dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, quiet coves, boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and the iconic Hell’s Gate formation.
The driving time between the main east- and west-side areas is approximately 45 minutes.
Hell’s Gate is one of Possum Kingdom Lake’s most recognizable natural landmarks, located near the south end of the lake.
Popular activities include boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing, golf, dining, camping, sightseeing, and attending local events.

Pets are allowed in at least some public-use areas, but BRA rules require pets to remain on a leash. Individual lodging properties, restaurants, and private attractions may have their own policies.

The Chamber’s current boating page states that no lake boat permit is required. Boaters are still responsible for complying with applicable state boating laws and regulations.
Yes. Public-access ramps are available around Possum Kingdom Lake, including locations on both the east and west sides.

Yes. BRA Area #1, Scenic Cove, is listed as free and open year-round. It includes a swimming area, boat ramp, picnic facilities, and restrooms.
BRA Area #2, Downtown PK, has camping and restrooms but is specifically listed as having no water access.
Seasonal fees apply. The Chamber currently lists a $3-per-person day-use fee on weekends and holidays from mid-May through mid-September, with children under 13 free.

The Brazos River below Morris Sheppard Dam is a popular canoeing area. The Chamber highlights an approximately 20-mile scenic stretch between Texas Highway 16 and Highway 4.
The Chamber states that camping is allowed along this river stretch, but there are no public camping facilities, so paddlers must carry their own gear and prepare accordingly.

One story traces the name back to Ike Sablosky, a peddler who came to Mineral Wells in 1906. While working in the hide and fur business, Sablosky bought possum and other animal hides from cedar choppers and hunters in northwest Palo Pinto County. He began referring to his best suppliers as “the boys from Possum Kingdom.” Over time, the nickname caught on and the surrounding area became known as Possum Kingdom.
The Chamber’s lodging directory includes cabin rentals, guest houses, hotels, RV camping, and tent camping.
No. According to the Chamber’s camping page, BRA does not take reservations for its public tent-camping sites. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
No. The Chamber states that BRA public tent-camping sites do not have electric or water hookups.
Yes. Unlike BRA public-use areas, Possum Kingdom State Park accepts camping reservations.
Campers who want to stay longer than one week are instructed to obtain permission from the Brazos River Authority.

It depends on the activities, lodging, restaurants, and marinas you plan to visit. Because the east and west sides are roughly a 45-minute drive apart, checking locations before booking can save significant travel time.

It is a longstanding Possum Kingdom Lake Fourth of July tradition featuring fireworks in the Hell’s Gate area. The Chamber currently describes the tradition as more than 40 years old.
